On 17th July' 2013, DySPD (SSA, Punjab) visited the DIET training centre in Barnala district. Teacher training is being undertaken by the AIF Trust in collaboration with Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan, Punjab at DIETs.

During the visit, AIF trainer
and DIET resource persons updated DySPD, S. Surinderpal Singh about training
content and activities which are based on pedagogical concepts which are truly
based on activities. Later on, S. Surinderpal Singh (DySPD),
interacted with teachers and discussed about training material, relevancy to
syllabus and its usefulness to improve interest of students in studies.
Teacher's response was encouraging towards the training as follows:
'This training is different from other trainings and it is activity based, interesting and easy to follow. It is based on many innovative concepts like importance of questioning and creativity in students and moreover how to change aggressive and submissive behavior to assertive which are very important for good environment in schools.
Sh. Surinderpal Singh encouraged the teachers to be creative and innovative during teaching and emphasized to develop assertive behavior in students. He said that now it is need of time to learn new techniques of teachings and to apply them practically in classroom. He suggested them that according to modern age teacher has different role as a facilitator so they needs to prepare themselves as a facilitator than a teacher. At the end he gave his best wishes for successful training and staff thanked him for his visit and encouragement.
